P1.2 M up for Lazi Señora river study
Province of Siquijor, February 23 (PIA) – Some P1.2 million fund from theCommission on Higher Education (CHED) is up for the assessment of Señora River in Lazi, Siquijor.
In an approved workplan submitted by Project Leader Rosalina Catid, Vice President of the Research Extension Program of the Siquijor State College (SSC) here, the project involves assessment of the Señora River in terms of its physico-chemical characteristics, biodiversity and socio-cultural conditions of the inhabitants along the river bank.
Catid said the study is concerned with the river system in the province and is aimed to look into the socio-cultural, health and economic profile of the residents along the river as well as their awareness of the benefits from the water system.

DILG training for Siquijor barangay officials starts this week
Province of Siquijor, February 23 (PIA) – Starting this week, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) here will conduct a series of training to all barangay newly elected officials (BNEO) provincewide.
First in schedule is the town of San Juan on February 24 and 25 for the first batch and March 10 to 11 for the second batch.
For the town of Lazi, first batch will be on March 14-15, second batch on March 21-22 and third on March 28-29.
Maria town will have its trainings on March 16-17, March 23-24 and March 30-31, respectively while Enrique Villanueva town on March 18-19 and March 25-26,
BNEO, the DILG said, is a capacity development training program of the department through the Local Government Academy that prepares the newly elected officials to their tasks and responsibilities and enhances their capability in governance.
The training includes orientation on barangay governance and administration, improving transparency and participation, enhancing performance through accountability and laying the grounds for development. (RACalibo/PIA-Siquijor/PIA7)
