Siquijor holds Signature Massage Training

Siquijor Province, April 14 (PIA-7)— To further boost Siquijor's tourism industry, the Siquijor Provincial Tourism Office in coordination with the Department of Tourism, Region 7 (DOT-7)  and the Siquijor State College (SSC) conducted last week a five-day Siquijor Signature Massage Training (Hilot) to 30 local therapists (masseurs and masseuses/ hilots) from all six towns in the province.


Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Jossette A. Armirola said the activity is part of the province’s  response to the recommendations from the DOT-7 and the spa guru, Jomar Fieras who came to Siquijor on inspection to make the island a Healing Destination. She said, the recommendation was to create and develop a Siquijor Signature Massage” that will be made part of the itinerary in a healing journey package for the island.



The training was administered by Dexter Lazaro and Belmor del Prado Jr. from the Sanctuario Spa in Quezon City.



After the training, the trainees will be organized for DOT and the Siquijor Tourism Office accreditation, Armirola also said. (RACalibo/PIA-7 Siquijor)

AFP, PNP create peace, security coord center, sign joint implan

Siquijor Province, April 14 (PIA-7)—The Philippine National Police(PNP)-Siquijor Province Police Office and the 302nd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army has crafted the creation of the Siquijor Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Center (SJPSCC) recently.  This is to ensure the unity of efforts between the military and the police in addressing all peace and security concerns in the province, the AFP and the PNP said in the joint Implementing Plan signed Monday last week.


Formal signing between the AFP and the PNP was made at the Office of the Provincial Governor, Siquijor, Siquijor in the presence of Provincial Governor Orlando A. Fua Jr. , SP Committee Chair on Peace and Order Arturo M. Pacatang, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)Provincial Director Dominica Lacuesta, Municipal Mayors Melojean Orquillas of Enrique Villanueva, Gold L. Calibo of Larena, Orpheus A. Fua of Lazi, Rebecca Padayhag of Maria, Edwin Quimno of San Juan and the representative of Siquijor Mayor Richard Quezon with the Chiefs of Police of the six municipalities and other stakeholders.



The PNP was represented by the Provincial Director, PSSuperintendent Ernesto F.  Agas while the AFP by Col. Christopher Estalla, DeputyBrigade Commander, 302 Bridage, Philippine Army.



The SJPSCC  ImPlan prescribes the policies, guidelines and procedures that will institutionalize its purpose and objectives in support to the initiatives of the Local government units LGUS) with the rest of the stakeholders particularly on peace and security. (RACalibo/PIA-7/Siquijor)

39 takes TESDA’s assessment in Siquijor

Siquijor Province, April 14 (PIA-7)--At least thirty nine applicants from this province took the National Competency Assessment and Certification (NATCAC) conducted by the Provincial Technical Education and Skills development Authority (TESDA) on March 28 to April 1, this year.

In a press release submitted earlier, the Provincial TESDA said, the assessment was conducted for free  in programs with high job demands.

At the TESDA-Lazi National Agricultural School (TESDA-LNAS), the assessment was conducted in Food and Beverage Service (FBS) NC II, Housekeeping NC II and III and Bread and Pastry Making NC II.

An opening program was held in the morning of the first day attended by  the trainees, walk-in applicants, trainors/assessors of TESDA-LNAS, Provincial TESDA personnel headed by Provincial Director Visitacion C.  Millanes,  Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Henry B. Dinsay representing Mayor Orpheus Fua, and some Industry representatives.

A culmination program was conducted in the afternoon of the last day attended by all the assesses, trainors/assessors, and personnel of the school and the TESDA-Provincial Office.  It was graced by Congressman Orlando B.  Fua who delivered an inspirational message on the importance of blue collar workers to the economy and the role which Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) plays.  In attendance too was Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) President Danilo Yano who assisted in the distribution of the National Certificates.  (RACalibo/PIA-7/Siquijor)
