DTI invites SMEs, SMEDc to SME summit

SIQUIJOR, July 14 (PIA)—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Central Visayas invites all members of the Provincial Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council SMEDC) and the micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to the SME summit on July 22 at the Metro Centre Hotel, Tagbilaran City. 

Provincial Director Nimfa Virtucio said the summit will be conducted by the DTI- Region 7 in collaboration with the Deutsche Gessellschaft fur Internationale Zusmmenarbeit (GIZ) with the theme, "Greening and Winning Business Strategies.”

Virtucio said, the summit aims to disseminate the strategies intended to improve the competitiveness of the priority sectors in Central Visayas and give updates on the progress and results of the implementation of these strategies. 

From this, Virtucio said, SMEDCs and MSMEs will have the chance to learn from the experiences of successful entrepreneurs who have implemented strategies which resulted in improving their companies’ competitiveness and growth. 

The strategies that are going to be adopted in the implementation of the MSME development plans are aimed to improve access to markets and finance, productivity and efficiency, and business environment. (PIA-Siquijor/mbcn/rac)

AFOS assists Siquijor Chamber of Commerce and IndustryBy Rizalie A. Calibo

SIQUIJOR, July 14 (PIA) – The German AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Cooperation is providing a staff to Siquijor Chamber Commerce and Industry Inc. to assist in the gathering of information for SCCII database. 

Eng. Mario E. de la Pena of the Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) here said the staff is housed at the PSTC office in Siquijor, Siquijor where he can have easy access with the DOST and other agencies for the needed information to improve the SCCII services. 

He said the database will help the AFOS, the local government units of the province and the SCCII come up a tourism development project for the province. 

The AFOS technical staff will serve SCCII for one month, he said. (PIA-Siquijor/RACalibo)
