Macapobre said the success in the past implementation of the KALAHI-CIDSS is a big factor in the granting of additional fund by the US Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) for the 2nd round of the project.

“Hinaut unta nga ingon sab ana ka mainiton ang inyong paghangop ug pag-implementar niining dugang na usab nga proyekto,” she said. (We hope that you give the same warmth and enthusiasm in the implementation of this project).

“This is the first time that the MCC funds the Philippines. The challenge is for the project to be successful once more so that MCC will expand to other areas,” she said.

“Daghang ang mga lungsod ug ahensya sa gobyerno mi-submit sa MCC pero kita ra ang naka-avail,” (A number of towns and agencies in the region have submitted proposals to the MCC but we are the only ones granted) she added.

Macapobre further said that the MCC allocated some $120M grant for the KALAHI-CIDSS expansion; Siquijor and Enrique Villanueva towns will get P25M.

“Akong dad-on ang tingog sa 124 pa ka mga lungsod sa tibuok rehiyon nga unta ampingan ninyo ang proyekto aron usab sila makatagamtam niini," she said. (I am bringing the voice of the other 124 towns all over the region to make good of the project so that they too, can enjoy the same.)

The re-launching of the KALAHI-CIDSS Makamasang Tugon in the province signals the start of the project implementation.

Macapobre called on the beneficiaries to finish the social preparations and project plans for them to avail of the first tranche by November or December.

She also hopes that locals will choose those projects that are really needed and of significance to the community.

“Dili nato pakyason ang atong mga katawhan. Magkuyog ta ug maghugpong sa pagpanday sa bag-ong ugma” (Let’s not fail our people. Let’s go and work together building a better future), Macapobre said quoting the town’s vision:” Sama-sama tayo sa pagpanday ng bagong umaga.”(PIA-Siquijor/mbcn/rac)
