Siquijor to launch ‘isla de fuego’

SIQUIJOR, May 12 (PIA)--- The Provincial Government of Siquijor will launch Monday (May 16) the ‘isla de Fuego,’ a travel guide book published by the Provincial Government of Siquijor through the Provincial Tourism Office here at the Lazi, Social Center, Lazi, Siquijor.
As the big event also falls during Lazi town’s big Fiesta celebration, Provincial Governor Orlando A. Fua Jr. promises a night of cocktails, ballroom dancing, cultural show and socialization with the “balikbayans,” tourism stakeholders, national and local agency heads, public officials and other personalities across the island.
“We have chosen you as one of our important guests because we think that with your experience and insight you could help our island in rocketing towards great development,” Gov. Fua said in his invitation.
“Joining me in this event would be my great joy and gratitude for you are considering yourself to be my partner in making Siquijor a best tourism destination,” he also said.
Isla de Fuego serves as a directory for tourists, visitors and investors who need complete and updated information on the island’s tourism -- from accommodation facilities and services, to arts, history and culture. (RAC/PIA-Siquijor)

SIQUIJOR, May 12 (PIA)---President Benigno Simeon Aquino III hails Siquijor Province for launching its travel guide book named “Isla de Fuego.”
In his message for the Travel Guide Book, the President congratulates and commends the people and officials of Siquijor “for creating an environment where local and foreign tourists can appreciate the vibrant heritage and the beauty of our country.”
Citing that tourism plays a key role in national development, President Aquino said Siquijor province has shown its potential to become one of the top tourist destinations in the country.
“Recently named by the Philippine Human Development Network as a progressive province in terms of human development and per capita income, Siquijor also has the advantages of abundant natural resources, a rich culture, and a hospitable people.
“Our shared aspiration is to establish development and prosperity in poverty’s place. I am proud to note that you have taken an active role in the revitalization of our economy,” he said as he wishes the province to continue to prosper and serve as an inspiration to the rest of the nation.
“You are a testament to our conviction that so long as we go on the straight and righteous path to change, we can rebuild our country and restore its glory,” President Aquino finally said. (RAC/PIA-Siquijor)

Pantawid Pamilya orientation starts today in Maria town

MARIA, Siquijor, May 12 (PIA)--- The Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD) here is conducting today (May 12) and May 13, an Orientation/Briefing on Pantawid Pamilya Program to ensure its smooth implementation and fast-track release of conditional cash grants to the beneficiaries.
Municipal Link Officers Jocelyn Adalid said series of orientation are scheduled in three Pantawid Pamilya covered municipalities in the province that will be attended by members of the Municipal Advisory Committee, the local chief executives, barangay captains, municipal health officers, midwives, school supervisors, principals, municipal agricultural officers, community planning officers, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Education and other partner agencies.
This will also give light to the implementers and partner agencies on the conditions that the beneficiaries should follow to maintain the conditional grant within the given period, the DSWD said. (RAC/PIA Siquijor).
