SIQUIJOR, May 13 (PIA)---The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Region 7 has a allocated some P1.2 million for this year to fund various livelihood projects in Siquijor province.
But DOLE-Siquijor Information Officer Jerome Alam, in an interview with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) here said until now no one has submitted proposals yet to avail of the program.
He said the budget is set to fund livelihood projects based on proposals from DOLE-accredited organizations and small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) but that those projects should meet the DOLE’s requirements.
The office, he said is inviting interested organizations and individuals to submit proposals to their office. Forms for proposals are available at their office at Siquijor, Siquijor.
Among the programs being offered are the Kabuhayan Starter KITS for those who wish to start yet; Promotion for Rural Employment through Self-Employment and Entrepreneurship Development (PRESEED), Women Employment and Entrepreneurship Development (WEED), Tulong Alalay para sa Taong may Kapansanan (TULAY), Negosyo sa Kariton (NEGO-KART), Tulay Para sa Ating mga Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD), Special Employment of Students (SPES) Program, Kabataan Information Technology Opportunities (K-ITO), and Youth Entrepreneurship Support (YES).
As can be noted, DOLE Provincial Extension Officer, Juanito Gallosa has said that the various grants for the different associations reflect the government’s effort s to render employment to the people in the island and the whole country as well. (RAC/PIA-Siquijor)

SIQUIJOR, May 13 (PIA)--- The Department of Labor and Employment has allocated some P547,440 for the 396 students of Siquijor province availing this year’s Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES).
DOLE-Siquijor Information Officer Jerome Alam said deployment of SPES students started in April and will end either May or early part of June just before the enrolment.
He said only the Provincial Government of Siquijor and the municipal government of Larena, Siquijor and San Juan have availed this year’s SPES with 200 from the provincial government and 75, 63 and 41 from the three municipalities respectively.
The local government units (LGUS) of Enrique Villaueva Maria and Lazi did not avail due to lack of budget, he said.
Under the program, participating LGUs will shoulder 60% of the labor cost while 40% will be shouldered by the DOLE.
SPES is a special employment opportunity to 15 to 25 year-old poor but deserving students who intend to pursue their students come school opening in June. (RACalibo/PIA-Siquijor)
