Siquijor nominees named 2011 Gawad Saka awardees

SIQUIJOR, June 16 (PIA) --- Another three nominees from this province are named this year’s Gawad Saka  Outstanding Achievers in Agriculture and Fisheries for the Central Visayas Region.

This was learned from the letter sent last June 6 by Department of Agriculture in Region 7 (DA-7)Regional Executive Director Leo P. Caneda to Siquijor Provincial Governor Orlando A. Fua Jr.

  
In his letter, Director Caneda announced the three achievers namely Edwin T. Balingit of Barangay Olave, Enrique Villanueva, Siquijor as Outstanding High Value Crops Development  Program (HVCDP)- Farmer, vegetable  category; Catulayan Multi-Purpose Cooperative of  Barangay Catulayan, San Juan, Siquijor as Outstanding Small Farmers Organization; and Alang sa Tanan Multipurpose Cooperative (ALTAMCO) of Barangay Olo, Siquijor, Siquijor as Outstanding Barangay Food Terminal.

ALTAMCO, Dir. Caneda said, is also the national fiinaliss for the category.
