By Rizalie A. Calibo

SIQUIJOR, Dec. 12 (PIA)—As “Misa de Gallo” comes closer, the women’s association of barangay Poblacion in Siquijor town is thinking of something good  they can offer to the parishioners.

They finally came up with a good project to work on-- squash bread making.  It enables them to earn while serving the local populace on this Christmas holidays.

Following the request from the barangay women folks, the Department of Science and Technology [DOST) conducted recently a training  on squash bread making to at least 22 women of barangay Poblacion, Siquijor, Siquijor.

The training, DOST Provincial Director Mario de la Pena said is very timely because the group received assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) last month for common service facilities such as kitchen utensils.

De la Pena said the  group is interested to avail of the services because it wants to produce "vege bread" that it can sell and offer during the Misa de Gallo.

De la Pena hopes that after the training the group will go into production and can serve the local populace especially the children as squash is highly nutritious. (mbcn/rac/PIA-Siquijor)
