Environmental measures included in PNP-Siquijor agenda

SIQUIJOR, Feb 29 (PIA) -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) here included environmental protection measures in their agenda.
PNP Regional Director P/CSupt Marcelo P. Garbo Jr., during his visit to the province, said that his goal is for the agency to plant ten million trees in Central Visayas.
Some 100 coconut trees were initially planted at the provincial headquarters in Caipilan, Siquijor, Siquijor, said PNP Provincial Director Ernesto F. Agas.
Barangay captains and officials of the four barangays of Siquijor town along with some students and teachers from the Siquijor Science High School and Balite Institute of Technology joined the tree planting activity.
Garbo said he has spearheaded similar civic-oriented activities like mahogany planting at the typhoon Sendong-hit areas in Negros Oriental where 250 trees were planted.
They also distributed relief goods to the typhoon victims, he added.
He urged other government and non-government organizations to replicate the said activities. (rmn/rac/PIA-Siquijor)
