State U president calls on students' pro-active role vs climate change
LARENA, Siquijor, April 12 (PIA) -- The president of Negros Oriental State University (NorSu) recently called on students of the Siquijor State College (SSC) to get involved in the fight against climate change.
In his message during the SSC’s 17th charter anniversary, NorSu president Henry Sojor said climate change is a harsh reality man faces today.
“God always forgives. Man sometimes forgives. Nature never forgives,” Sojor said as he called on the students to reflect on the theme,“The Role of Siquijor State College in Responding to the Global Climate Change.”
He cited plastic as the worst invention of humankind and urged the students to take proactive roles in saving the Earth as the rate of climate change is already alarming.
He encouraged students to plant and grow trees as they are proven to be beneficial to nature.
In line with the charter anniversary, the SSC faculty and students conducted a tree planting activity at Barangay Balolanng, Larena, Siquijor. (MBCN/RAC-PIA Siquijor)
