DTI 7 to hold public consultation on rationalization of fines on Oct 23

SIQUIJOR, Oct. 18 (PIA) -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its Bureau of Trade Regulation and Consumer Protection (BTRCP), is inviting the public to participate in a hearing on the Rationalization of Fines as provided in the Consumer Act of the Philippines and Law on Standards. 

The public consultation is on October 23 at 1:30 p.m. at Harolds Hotel, Gorordo Avenue cor. Rosal Street, Lahug, Cebu City. 

In a statement, DTI said it has drafted a Department Administrative Order (DAO) entitled: Classifying Administrative Offenses under Consumer Act (R.A. 7394) and the Law on Standards (R.A. 4109) and Rationalization of fines corresponding thereto. 

Under the Consumer Act of the Philippines, it is the policy of the State to protect the interest of the consumer, promote his general welfare and to establish standards of conduct for business and industry.
